More than 55,000 visitors, 25 educational programs and the vision for the "Cyprus Gastrocultural Innovation Hub"

There are places that keep a story alive, and places that manage to carry it into the future. The Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum belongs to both. For ten years, it has given visitors the change to discover an important part of Cypriot history. Today, that same history is gaining a new way of being told.

An evening to Celebrate 10 Years

The Museum's tenth anniversary was celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2026, inside the state-of-the-art warehouse of Cyprus Millers by Hadjigiorkis in Frenaros. The evening brought together people connected with the Museum's journey, visitors and government officials.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, addressed the event. Museum Curator, Styliana Hadjigeorgiou opened the evening with a look back at the Museum's ten-year journey and everything created along the way.

'Seeds of Memory": Tradition with a Human Voice

The "Seeds of Memory" series hold a special place in the Museum's journey. Through it, the relationship of the people of Cyprus with the land, wheat, flour and kneading is given a human voice. Women of different ages and backgrounds share personal stories, memories and knowledge passed down from generation in their families. They shed light on a way of life in which bread is the fruit of care, hard work, cooperation and love.

The series begins in the courtyards of the stone mills and in childhood years spent beside grandmothers and mothers. It reaches all the way to the younger women who continue to knead and create today. In this way, “Seeds of Memory” records a living part of Cypriot heritage. During the evening, videos of their stories were screened, awakening memories of another era. The audience rediscovered images, flavors and moments of an everyday life that lives on through the stories of its people.

A Decade in Numbers

To date, more than 55,000 visitors have walked through the Museum’s doors. At the same time, 25 educational programs have brought children and teachers closer to the history of flour milling and the tradition of Cyprus Millers. Behind these numbers lies a journey that began in 1945, when the art of milling became part of everyday life for Cypriots. Cyprus Millers by Hadjigiorkis has grown into a modern flour-milling company without losing touch with its roots, its values and its tradition.

The Museum of Tomorrow: The "Cyprus Gastrocultural Innovation Hub"

The key message of the evening was the Museum’s new direction. Savvas Koshis, CEO of Cyprus Millers by Hadjigiorkis, presented the vision for the future Museum, one in which technology plays an important role in how the public connects with the space and its history.

The Museum’s upgrade brings smart technologies and interactive features. It also paves the way for the “Cyprus Gastrocultural Innovation Hub.” Visitors will discover history in a more direct and contemporary way, through an experience that combines tradition with innovation. The new direction stays true to its roots while renewing the way they are presented. Technology becomes a storytelling tool, and each visit takes on a livelier, more participatory character.

Ten years on, the Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum is looking ahead. It carries with it a rich journey, thousands of visitors and a clear ambition: for history to keep living, inspiring and taking on new forms.
