Poetry, engraving and Cypriot food traditions come together in the 11th edition of the Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum Calendar, with all proceeds supporting the Cyprus Music Archive.

An Evening Celebrating Culture

The 2027 Calendar was presented on 23 October 2026 to a full house at the event hall of the Frenaros Municipal District. The evening offered guests an introduction to the publication and the people whose work shaped it.

Addresses were delivered by Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis, Mayor of Paralimni-Deryneia Giorgos Nikolettos and Deputy Mayor of the Frenaros Municipal District Costas Michail. Musical accompaniment by the band Kazandibi added to the atmosphere throughout the event.

Inside the 2027 Calendar

Featuring poetry and editorial work by Kosmas G. Oikonomou, this year’s edition includes sayings, wishes and tributes to forty figures from Cyprus’s intellectual and creative life, compiled and edited by the poet.

Cypriot gastronomy researcher Florentia Kythreotou contributes the foreword, while artist Nikolas Rotsidis illustrates the publication with a series of twelve engravings.

The calendar also features twelve Cypriot food products. Based on research and documentation gathered by Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum, these features highlight the richness of the island’s food heritage.

The People Behind the Publication

During the launch, Museum Curator Styliana Hadjigeorgiou introduced the idea that inspired the 2027 Calendar. Nikolas Rotsidis shared the creative process behind his engravings, while Florentia Kythreotou presented the publication. Kosmas G. Oikonomou recited the poem he wrote for Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum.

Honouring the Women of “Seeds of Memory”

During the event, the Museum honoured the women who participated in the “Seeds of Memory” series, recognising their contribution to preserving Cyprus’s food traditions. Through their personal stories, memories and knowledge, they highlighted the connection between breadmaking and family life, and the passing of this craft from one generation to the next. This tribute was an expression of gratitude for the experiences they shared with the Museum, helping to preserve and pass on a valuable part of our collective memory.

Supporting the Cyprus Music Archive

All proceeds from the 2027 Calendar will be donated to the Cyprus Music Archive. This contribution gives the publication an additional purpose, connecting its celebration of literature, engraving and food traditions with support for the island’s musical heritage.
