On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Amphitheatre of the Frenaros Municipal District hosted the presentation of the 10th edition of the 2026 Calendar of the Hadjigiorkis Mills Museum, written and edited by Kosmas G. Economou.

This year’s event held a special significance, marking ten years of continuous publication of the Museum’s Calendar, an institution that has now become a notable cultural milestone for our community.

The 2025 edition was introduced by Dr. Petros Papapolyviou, Professor at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Cyprus, who spoke about the importance of the Cyprus Millers by Hadjigiorkis initiative in connecting tradition with contemporary cultural creation, as well as the timeless value of the Calendar as a living testament to the people and heritage of our land.

The event took place in a warm and moving atmosphere, attended by representatives of local authorities, partners, friends of the Museum, and supporters of the Cyprus MIllers’ work. Editor Kosmas G. Economou shared insights about the themes and inspiration behind the verses featured in this year’s publication.

During the evening, four creators who were newly added to this year’s Calendar were honored, Toula Kakouli, Nina Iacovou, Michalis Hadjimichael, and Filippos Yiapanis  for their contribution to art and culture.

This year’s edition also includes a special tribute to the forty creators honored in all previous editions, as a token of appreciation and recognition of their collective contribution over the years.

The atmosphere of the event was beautifully complemented by the music ensemble “Proskynites”, featuring Theodoulos Papageorgiou, Kyriakos Markoullis, Elena Papageorgiou, Nestor Georgiou, and Theofanis Theofanous, whose melodies and rhythms carried the audience on a journey through Cypriot musical tradition, bringing the evening to a heartwarming close.

Our company expresses its sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to the organization and success of the event, as well as to everyone who honored this important anniversary with their presence. Special thanks are extended to those who continue to support the philanthropic purpose of the Calendar through their purchases. Proceeds from this year’s Calendar sales will be donated to the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, supporting its invaluable work for people in need across the island.

Over the years, the Hadjigiorkis Mills Museum Calendar, as a beacon of Corporate Social Responsibility for Cyprus Millers by Hadjigiorkis, has managed to provide financial support through its sales to numerous organizations and individuals, both in the Famagusta district and island-wide. Thanks to its loyal readers, this initiative has continuously offered meaningful assistance over the years to: the Saint Christopher Center for Care and Love, PASYKAF, the Parents’ Associations of the Frenaros Primary School and Kindergarten, the Apostolos Varnavas Special School of Famagusta, the Apostolos Pavlos Rehabilitation Center, the Elderly Care Center “Saint George of Avion” in Avgorou, the completion of the Church of Saints Paisios and Nektarios in Drousia, Europa Donna Cyprus, the Community Kindergarten of Sotira, the Parents and Friends Association for Children with Special Needs of Famagusta, the organization Faros Zois, the Pan-Cyprian Organization of Relatives of Missing and Undeclared Prisoners, and last year, the family of our beloved colleague Vasilis Mitsis, whom we lost 14 months ago.

The evening concluded with emotion and joy, reaffirming once again that the love for culture, tradition, and giving remains an integral part of the identity and values of Cyprus Millers by Hadjigiorkis.
